An expert in agribusiness, Fernando Aftalion has a 27 year experience in agribusiness banking and consulting, while at the same time he knows the roots of the sector since he is the fourth generation of a farming family in Argentina.
In 2009 he founded Grupo Agrarius, an agribusiness advisory firm specialized in fundraising, debt restructuring, M&A and business plans & strategy. Between 2016 and 2018 he made a parenthesis to join IDB Invest, the private arm of IDB Group, as the Head of Agribusiness for Latin America and the Caribbean to create and develop the whole new business strategy in the region. In less than 3 years, IDB Invest Agribusiness became a key player in the market
by leading visible deals such as CMI and BSI in Central America, Danper and Agricola Pampa Baja in Peru, Renova, San Miguel and Desdelsur in Argentina, Interagrovial in Uruguay, Agrofertil in Paraguay and Latin America Agribusiness Development Corp. (LAAD).
Fernando Aftalion
Before 2009, he held management roles in commercial and investment banking at Rabobank (New York, Mexico and Argentina), Banco Rio / Santander, ABN AMRO and BankBoston in Argentina.
Fernando has an EMBA from IAE Business School (Argentina) and a business degree from Universidad Catolica Argentina. He is a columnist at the agribusiness section at diario La Nacion.
